Parents and players, as the fall season kicks off, you will be having team meetings and asked to sign guideline forms intended to recommend behaviors to improve the soccer experience for players, parents and coaches alike. This year, we have added a "24 hour rule" to our parent guidelines.
Youth sports can be an emotional experience. The physical activity of the kids can often spill onto the sidelines and into the stands and create strong reactions in coaches and parents. For parents, it is important to separate their child's sports development from game emotions.
For this reason, The Rock Springs Avengers has adopted the "24 Hour Rule" which simply states that unless parents or coaches see children in imminent physical danger, they should let any matters of difference rest for 24 hours before discussing them.
Coaches are instructed to not discuss a game situation, playing time, difference of opinion or personal issue until at least 24 hours after the fact.
This important rule does two things. First, it moves the discussion away from the presence of the players. Second, it allows all parties to have time to put things in perspective and "cool off", if necessary.
When parents and coaches respect the 24 hour rule, their concerns are more likely to be fully addressed in reasoned discussion. More importantly, the kids' enjoyment of a game won't be marred by an ill-timed confrontation.
If you have concerns about your child's safety that you feel warrant immediate attention, of course you should address those issues with your coach as soon as possible.

The Avengers soccer organization would like to recognize the passing of Jack Brown who was a pioneer in the Avengers club start up and long time coach in the 1980's and 90's. Jack has left a positive mark on his players and people who were involved with the Avengers soccer club have much respect for his dedication to the community. Many memories will remain with us and we will all cherish the fun soccer trips and matches we shared with him as our coach and youth mentor. In his memory the Avengers organization will have his name engraved on our memorial at Crossroads Field. Our condolences go out to his family at this difficult time. Below is a picture of some of the players he impacted in a great way.
